Self-Reliance members will have access to high performance Heat Pump Water Heaters. These water heaters are best for people who heat their hot water with an electric hot water heater.

Heat Pump Water Heaters are the most energy efficient conventional units on the market, typically reducing water-heating costs by 80%. The unit also cools and dehumidifies the air around it. This is very beneficial on Cape Cod, where many people run dehumidifiers all year long! The heaters are German engineered and carry a 10-year warranty. They also may be used in conjunction with solar hot water to further reduce the amount of electricity needed to operate it.

Self-Reliance is promoting an 80-gallon tank installation. * A 40 gallon option is also available.

For electric hot water customers, there is an additional incentive of $750 available through the Cape Light Compact.
