Solar Hot Water
The sun’s fuel is free unlike that from the utility company.
Why would I want to install this technology?
Solar hot water systems are a great tried and true technology that can provide between 50% and 100% of your domestic hot water needs on an annual basis. Solar hot water systems are plumbed into your domestic water plumbing with pipes and a special storage tank that keeps the water from the solar system warm and then sends it to the faucet or wherever it is needed in the home.
A simple solar hot water system for two people would consist of 2-3 panels and a tank between 80 and 110 gallons. There are federal and state tax credits for installing solar hot water, as well as incentives from the Cape Light Compact (for those who heat their water with electricity) and from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
